I'm a nanny now

For those of you who've missed me, I know- it's been a while since I've posted and I'm sorry. Here's what's been going on with me...

I split with my daughter's father and moved in with my brother out in the country; where there is no internet! Sure, I can go to the library for the hour they're open after my girl goes to sleep- but honestly that doesn't give me much time to do anything!

Luckily, I got this great job as a nanny for two boys ages 5 and 8. They're great kids and I get to bring my baby to work with me everyday. I couldn't imagine it working out any better!

The only problem is that I'm not making lots of money from this job. Don't get me wrong they pay well- but there's not a lot left over after all the necesseties are taken care of.

Start Finance: Sponsored Post

I don't have a lot of money. I work really hard as often as I can just to get by. It's part of being young, it's part of being a single mom and for most of us it's just a part of life. I don't have a 9-5 job with a weekly pay check. That'd be nice, but then I wouldn't be able to play such a big role in my daughter's up bringing. Guess who gives people like me home loans?

You guessed it! Practically no one! Just because I don't have as much credit history and money as others doesn't mean I don't need money! Of course I need money! It's too bad I don't live in Australia, because if I did I could use this great company called startfinance.com.au to help me with a home loans.

Maybe I should just move there?

Check out this funny ad posted on you tube. It's a home loans company with a sense of humor!

Library!

I moved a few weeks ago so I haven't been able to keep up with my blogging. And guess what? I have no internet connection where I live! Now, I can tell you that not having web access really, and I mean really puts a damper on my online work. Luckily, I've found a few ways to overcome this obstacle.

Since I do most of my work as a freelance writer I simply do my writing at home, sans the net. I'll go to the library, right up the street from my house, gather any research info I might need and head home. It's great that most libraries have wireless internet access nowadays- so at least I'm not totally cut off!

I live way out in the country now so I'd have to get highspeed via the dish company, which is hugely expensive! So, for now- I'll just borrow it :).

Top 3 Sites On The Net For Finding Work And Making Money

I rarely get on the web for "pure enjoyment" anymore. I have specific goals that I want to accomplish and they all in some way involve making money. Don't get me wrong, I fully enjoy my work and everything I do to make money online, but you'll never catch me goofing around on bored.com, there's always money to be earned!

There are only 3 sites that I check on a regular basis, aside from my e-mail. These sites have proven to be very useful in the hunt for legitimate and free work online. BECAUSE YOU SHOULD NEVER HAVE TO PAY FOR A JOB!

http://www.writersrow.com/deborahng/freelancewritingjobs.html- This blog is specifically for freelance writers. If you're a freelance writer looking for a job this is the place to go! She updates constantly with opportunities for writers of every sort- even bloggers!

www.craigslist.com If you haven't checked out craigslist for work, you're really missing out. Whether it's writing you want to do, painting, singing, marketing, anything- just look for it on craigslist! You'll find blogging jobs here and much, much more. Be sure to check in cities all over the country, writing jobs are often "work from home" so it usually doesn't matter where you live.

Finally there's http://paidopps.blogspot.com/ I check this site every single day, sometimes multiple times a day. I discovered Tori, the author while searching on associatedcontent.com one day. She had some great ways to make money online and I've been an avid reader ever since. Proud To Be A Blogger...

Blogging has really taken off in the past year or so. Many of us are trying to make a little extra money from it, some of us are making a living from it and still other just do it for fun. Either way, blogging is fun and wouldn't it be nice if it could be a full time paying position?

I think the key to running a successful blog is most certainly patience. Traffic doesn't come over night and traffic doesn't come with out work! There are a plethora of sites out there that tell you how to increase your blogs traffic, google page rank and alexa rating. Still, people often expect to submit their site to a search engine then automatically be on the first page of a search. It just doesn't happen. Individuals who run successful blogs:
1) Blog on a regular basis, if not every day
2) Stick to the topic of their blog
3) Understand how to write content for the web and make it enjoyable to read
4) Stick with it!

Those of you out there who've been blogging for months even years on end know what it's like to be a real blogger. In order to get your blog to the top of the list you've got to be an obsessive blogger. There are a lot of us out there, we blog because we love it and what else is there to say?

Get Cash For Your Broken Laptop!

Before you start searching the web for way to properly dispose of your old or broken latop consider selling it. There are a lot of companies who do business by purchasing old or broken laptops, refurbishing them and reselling. They're the ones who are making big profits off of your laptop.

I had a Dell Inspiron 1100 for my freshman year in college. I had loads of problems with the power cord in this model. It was a three prong plug and it was constantly breaking! My then fiance decided he was going to fix it by replacing the plug jack with a more "standard" model. That way I wouldn't have to worry about replacing the expensive plug every 3 months. As you can imagine, his venture in laptop hardware support failed miserably and I was left with no way to turn my laptop on.

The Dell has been out of commission for well over a year now, and being in the tight spot for money I am; I decided to see if anyone out there would buy it. Obviously I found a few places otherwise I wouldn't be writing this post. One site offered me $80 for it and the other about $100. These sites pay for the shipping fees so you don't have to worry about getting screwed out of that money. I've included the links below, so if you have a crappy, old or even broken laptop don't throw it away, get your money's worth!

Where To Sell Jewelry

If you're try to get a good price for your old or unwanted jewelry, you may quickly discover that it won't sell for as much as you may have hoped. It seems that the prized possesions we once paid hundreds and even thousands of dollars for are know going on ebay for often less than half of their original sales price.

Today I went to a local jewelry shop in my town. I brought all the jewelry I wished to sell and let the owner take a look at it. Most of it was passed down to me after my grandmother died, however some of it was given to me over the years. I ended up selling a 14 carat gold charm braclette, with some charms included for $350. That seems like a pretty darn good deal to me!

I'm still left with a few key peices, that the jewlery store owner said they couldn't afford to buy. A .25 carat diamond engament ring, a silver gemstone bracellet, and a few random item like jade pendants. I plan to put the ring up for sale on craigslist. There are no listing fees and it's all local buyer so I feel like that's my best bet. I'm unsure of where to sell the rest right now, but I'll let you know how much I make!
